What is this?

Authentic relating involves the practice of cultivating non-judgmental acceptance of our own and each other’s stories and values, while seeking to gain clarity and understandings of where we stand, who we are and how we affect the dynamics of our relationships. Unlike traditional forms of communication, which rely on the practice of evaluation and labelling, authentic relating is a practice of self-discovery, awareness and exploration. It encourages us to stay present with our own and others’ moments of insight, surprise, joy, and grief - without requiring us to suppress emotions or beliefs that do not fit within predetermined boundaries. By engaging in authentic relating, we are better equipped to bring our fullest creative potential and wisdom to our relationships.
